Intrusion-Detection System Protects Workers and Trains

In an effort to prevent train accidents on a new $2.3-billion, 10-mile-long extension line in San Francisco, the Berryessa-Valley Transportation Authority/Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) team is installing a railroad intrusion-detection system (RIDS) that uses warning devices originally developed for protecting shipping ports from break-ins.

ENR MidAtlantic Gears Up to Publish 2016 Specialty Contractor Survey

The Dec. 26 ENR MidAtlantic issue will include the annual rankings of the region’s Top Specialty Construction firms. 

Based on 2015 revenue, the survey shows that the 18 participating firms in the survey collected a total of $2.4 billion in revenue. The MidAtlantic regions includes Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
